Motherhood is a Marathon
I am so glad you’re here. Motherhood is a Marathon is a community for moms who wish to reprioritize their faith and find comfort in God’s unwavering love. Here, we are not realists. No we believe in miracles and the power of our work as mothers. I hope you feel at home.
Motherhood is the race we run with God. All of our races should be run with Him, but especially the races where discipling children is your responsibility. Like Jesus and his disciples, our children are following our lead. This is true even if we’re tired, hungry, overstimulated, angry, or filled with joy. They look to us to navigate life and it is a constant job.
The world tells us that we are alone; that no one sees the work that we do; that motherhood is thankless; that it’s ghetto; that what we do as mothers does not matter. That is a lie. Motherhood is by design. God designed us just as we are so that we could lead our little followers. It is already done in Jesus’ name which means that the worries of the world are not ours to carry. God has already handled it and He is with us through whatever challenges we face.
When we are weak, He is strong. Where the world tells us we need to lean on outside factors for joy in motherhood, He tells us that He will be the joy maker. The proof is in the word:
2 Corinthians 12:9 says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Isaiah 40:11 says, “He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you.”
The book of Timothy tells us that God works through faithful women to shape generations. That is not light work. That is not to be minimized. You are not secondary or unimportant. When you feel unseen, know that God sees you. He rejoices in your work as a mother especially when you do it with Him. Nothing is impossible with God.
So why then do so many of us feel alone, unseen and unheard? The answer is simple: we forgot to include God. We dove deep into the illusion of control and we stopped surrendering to God. No wonder we felt overwhelmed and couldn’t find joy or patience or peace. Try it again, this time with God.
